Kevin Minto, a lorry driver and former soldier, unearthed a 3rd-century gold intaglio ring near Ilminster showing the goddess Victoria driving a two-horse chariot. The ring, found with a coin hoard reported by local detectorists, has been acquired for £78,000 and will tour local schools before joining a local museum. The intact intaglio is a rare Roman Britain survival that sheds light on local Roman presence and gives schools a tangible artifact for teaching history.
