Giro d'Italia Women, Stage 2, Elisa Balsamo wins in Caorle
Elisa Balsamo won Stage 2 of the Giro d'Italia Women in a Caorle bunch sprint, crossing the line first to take the stage victory. The win also put Elisa Balsamo in the race lead and gave her the points jersey after two days of racing. A flat coastal stage set up the mass sprint that let Balsamo's fast finish prevail over the peloton. As a former world road champion, Balsamo's double success marks her as the primary sprinter to watch in the coming stages.
