About time I reckon... We still need to show the man some respect for doing what few managers are able to do. Winning the league is no easy feat. He seemed out of novel ideas to get us out of the ditch and we now need a manager who can take us back to being feared again.

I think it's super harsh on Slot. Maintaining success is not easy, managing transition in the squad is not easy, dealing with the impact of a major tragedy is not easy. I think he deserved another season. Yes the bar was set high with his first season, but Klopp would have struggled this year too.

Martin Samuel writing in The Times and he’s right, it is an extraordinarily glowing statement for a man they’ve just sacked. Although I also saw elsewhere a query over why the club didn’t extend his contract after last season’s title win, so who knows? 🤷‍♀️

Liverpool's statement announcing Slot's dismissal contained so much warmth, such gratitude and humanity, all jarring with the brutality of the decision. "Our appreciation for everything he has achieved could not be greater ... Arne will always hold a special place in the history of this football club ... accomplishment built on outstanding coaching and leadership every single day... helped guide the club through one of the most difficult periods imaginable following the loss of Diogo ... compassion and humanity he showed throughout that time said a great deal about him as a person..."
Why would anyone sack a man like that?
Why would he not be given the opportunity to right this season's shortcomings? How would a campaign that still ended with Liverpool in the Champions League and above three of the five English clubs that had joined them in that competition last season, outweigh only the second Liverpool title win of the Premier League era? Slot has as many Premier League titles as Klopp, do not forget, albeit it from a higher baseline start.
