PSG retain Champions League on penalties; Paris arrests follow
Paris Saint-Germain beat Arsenal on penalties in the Champions League final in Budapest, securing PSG’s second Champions League title. Back in Paris, celebrations late Saturday erupted into clashes and Paris police detained dozens of people during the disorder. Chelsea issued a statement addressing a social-media post that mocked Arsenal after the defeat. The victory cements PSG's place at the top of European club football, while the Paris detentions highlight public-safety risks tied to large postgame gatherings.
780 arrests in France following riots after PSG won the Champions League final.
Why are people idiots? Team wins=burn things??? I don't understand 😕
This is not particularly a gripe, I'm not sure I'd want to pay the price up against French riot police, but if it were in Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool or Manchester FIFA would have fined the club and probably banned it from the competition.
BBC are quoting Le Pen without contrasting what she says.. of course there are riots in other countries after a football club wins 🤷♂️ whose side are the BBC on?
Nothing to do with the sport, just drunken thugs doing drunken thuggery
Why are sports "fans" so violent?
Sports riots are the dumbest *reason* to riot, but still a distant second to "WAHH! The democrats stole my election!! WAHH!!"
Arteta used the Champions League aftermath to send a message to the ownership - he wants a better attack But he also needs to change some of the emphasis of his team Last night was linked to season’s themes www.independent.co.uk/sport/footba...
Arteta bought on 4 subs who cost around €200m and created next to nothing. So a bit rich to criticise the quality of the attack he has created himself at great expense. Also, in that time, unlike other clubs, he hasn’t had to sell anyone of note from his squad
On the one hand it’s fair enough as he’s overachieved with a mediocre attack. On the other hand the amount they spent on a guy who had never performed well at a level higher than the 7th ranked league in Europe doesn’t inspire confidence he can be trusted to buy attackers.
