What a jerk. Most of these players are barely old enough to drink. You're cutting them from their dream of playing in the Cup, and you don't even have the guts to tell them to their face, or AT LEAST on the phone? Not only a jerk, but an enormous wimp who's lacking interpersonal skills, as well.

I don’t think Doyle actually watched much Leeds this season. They were tactically flexible and played “actual soccer” against the opponents they could, and were pragmatic against the teams they could not. Aaronson featured in both approaches.

Pochettino doing yay/nay emails to players for the USMNT roster is wild, in part because that means U.S. Soccer missed out on “Congratulations!” video calls, which is a content gold mine. That shouldn’t be the only reason to do it but if you want to drive hype for a home World Cup, that stuff plays
