Hull City promoted to Premier League, McBurnie scores 90+5 winner

Ollie McBurnie scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to give Hull City a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at Wembley in the EFL Championship play-off final, clinching promotion to the Premier League. The decisive goal capped a tense match that followed a pre-match incident when one window of the Hull team bus was smashed en route to the stadium. Hull now secure the financial and sporting benefits of top-flight status and will be celebrated with a civic parade and reception on Monday 25 May.

Hull City will be playing Premier League football next season. From finishing 21st in the Championship and surviving relegation on the final day last season, to victory in the play-offs and promotion this campaign. They beat Middlesbrough 1-0 in the final after Oli McBurnie’s 95th-minute winner.
