musicMay 17, 202615251

Dennis Locorriere, founding frontman and lead vocalist of 1970s band Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, has died at 76. His management said he died after a long, courageous battle with kidney disease. Locorriere sang lead on hits including "Sylvia's Mother", "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'", and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" and continued touring for decades. He helped define the band's crossover country rock and pop sound that brought major radio success in the 1970s and influenced later soft rock acts.

Oh, that is sad. Glad he's not suffering anymore, but he was a gem, and made some awesome music.

A couple of my friends and I, did a dance to the song "The Cover of the Rolling Stone," in our junior high talent show. (yeah, many years ago). -I hadn't realized that song was written by Shel Silverstein.

RIP I saw Dr. Hook perform at Louisville Downs Racetrack (which was open only for the concert, not racing at that time), the night before the KY Derby (at Churchill Downs). I think it was May 1973.

He was so unique. You knew his voice anywhere. I am not liking seeing so many I grew up with leaving us. I’m glad he’s no longer suffering and left us with so many memories.

Sad news. I was a big fan back in the '70s. I can't explain why I like this song, but it's one of the ones I remember Dr. Hook for. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCNn...
