Detective Conan voice actress Wakana Yamazaki dies at 61

Voice actress Wakana Yamazaki, known for her role as Ran Mōri in Detective Conan, has died at age 61.

Wakana Yamazaki has passed. The well known voice actor played Archnemon/Arukenimon in Digimon Adventure 02 & Ghost Game, but was probably most famed for her signature role of Ran Mouri in Detective Conan. More at WtW- withthewill.net/threads/waka...

It was just announced that Wakana Yamazaki (山崎和佳奈) passed away on April 18th. Though she is by far best known as the voice of Ran Mouri from "Detective Conan" she voiced young Sawa in the "Mermaid Saga" television series as well as Suzuna in "Inuyasha".

Akemi Okamura, who temporarily voiced Ran Mouri during Wakana Yamazaki's hiatus, will now take over the role after Yamazaki's passing while making sure to pay deep respect to the character that Yamazaki nurtured. The staff promises to cherish and carry forward the legacy that Yamazaki left behind.

holy shit, Yamazaki Wakana died... she was only 61... I knew her most for video game roles like Ayane in Dead or Alive or Okuni/Nene in Samurai Warriors... probably her most famous role is Mori Ran in Detective Conan though... mantan-web.jp/article/2026...

We knew she had been sick for a while, it's such a shame we lost her. Wakana Yamazaki had one of those voices I always recognised, almost a fun, cheekiness to it. She was known as Ran from Detective Conan, but her big role for me was Ayane from DOA. 61 as well, still so young. RIP.

RIP Wakana Yamazaki. Most people will know her for her work as Ran Mori but me and others will remember her work as Ayane in the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden franchise and how iconic she made that role.
