Brad Gushue was named USA Curling High Performance Director, USA Curling announced Wednesday. The 45-year-old Canadian Olympic champion and multiple Brier winner accepted the post to lead U.S. athlete development. Gushue said the role allows him to combine his curling experience with his business background. He will oversee USA Curling's high-performance program and direct Olympic preparation and athlete development ahead of upcoming international cycles.

was in a meeting when this news went down but USA Curling hiring Brad Gushue is a potentially transformative hire; nobody else has the combination of long-term vision, knowledge, and on-ice success. USA hiring him was above and beyond any of my educated guesses. I'm very excited for this
