Chris Finch confronts referee Tony Brothers after timeout delay
During Game 3 of the Western Conference series, Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch confronted referee Tony Brothers after Finch said he had called a timeout three seconds earlier. Brothers approached Finch during the Timberwolves' timeout huddle and Naz Reid stepped in to hold Brothers back as the exchange escalated. Finch said, "I wanted the timeout and I said I want my 3 seconds back," and added he asked where the ball would be inbounded and that Brothers began screaming at him. The confrontation mattered because a late timeout and the inbound spot can alter possession and strategy in a pivotal playoff game.
It's usually on officials to de-escalate situations, not go after an opposing coach when his back is turned walking away. Tony Brothers then kept going at Chris Finch during the Wolves timeout huddle.
If you don’t like that then you don’t like The Tony Brothers Show!
The league has a ref integrity issue. Brothers trying to fight Finch. Ref screaming at Reaves.
Do you know what recourse teams have when refs do something like that? Is there any follow up after the game? So weirdly inappropriate.
Super weird. Especially after Reeves complained about getting yelled at/disrespected. We’re about to launch into a conspiracy theory officiating situation.
