Aston Villa beat Nottingham Forest to reach Europa League final
Aston Villa beat Nottingham Forest 4-0 at Villa Park to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit and reach the Europa League final. Ollie Watkins opened the scoring, Emiliano Buendia converted a penalty, and John McGinn added two goals for a 4-1 aggregate victory under manager Unai Emery. Villa will face SC Freiburg in the final in Istanbul on May 20, their first European final in 44 years.
Crikey. Aston Villa are through to their first major European final since 1982. No pleasure in defeating another great midlands team. But this is simply wonderful. #AVFC #NFFC
Enjoying hearing #BCFC legend Karen Carney complimenting Aston Villa, a wonderful bonus. #AVFC #KRO
I took great pleasure at your result. Notts got exactly what they deserved. Good luck in your final 🦅
First European final for Freiburg whose highest accolade so far has been a second place in the German Cup
Congratulations! What a strange, brilliant season this has been.
I’m so happy. Best I’ve seen us play all season probably.
Villa were aweaome tonight. Too good for us. Good luck to you in the final. It'll be good to have lost to the tournament winners.
Congratulations, #Villa were superb from start to finish, absolutely battered Forest. Good luck in the final, and PLEASE look after John McGinn, we need him fit in a few weeks! 😁
Congratulations duck, you were magnificent on the night, and we couldn't live with that with half our first team missing. We needed you to be flat, and you were brilliant. Hope you smash the final ❤️
