Miami Grand Prix start time moved forward for storm risk
F1 moved Sunday's Miami Grand Prix start to 13:00 local time, advancing the race three hours. The FIA, F1 and Miami race organizers announced the change to reduce the risk of lightning holds from forecast thunderstorms and increase the chance of running the full race distance. The earlier kickoff will lower track temperatures compared with the original 16:00 start, forcing teams to revise tire choices, pit windows and overall race strategy. Grid uncertainty remains because Isack Hadjar faces disqualification for a Red Bull floor breach and may be required to start from the pit lane.
Following discussions between FIA, F1 and the Miami promoter, the decision has been taken to move the start of Sunday's Miami Grand Prix to 13:00 local time in Miami due to the weather forecast that is expected to bring heavier rainstorms later in the afternoon. #F1 #MiamiGP
Luckily, I checked Bluesky just now, otherwise I wouldn’t have found out until I tuned in to the race tonight
Yet again, sanitising the racing and making it too predictable
Now you're avoiding the only thing (rain) that could probably save this GP from being one of the most boring races on the calendar.
CONFIRMED: The Miami Grand Prix will now start at 13:00 Eastern Time - three hours earlier than originally scheduled #F1 #MiamiGP
FIA, FOM, and Miami GP statement: "This decision has been taken to ensure the least amount of disruption to the race, and to ensure the maximum possible window to complete the Grand Prix in the best conditions and to prioritise the safety of drivers, fans, teams and staff." #F1
