Ranger Suárez allowed two hits and no runs over eight innings as the Boston Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 in Toronto. Carlos Narváez hit a solo home run and Greg Weissert closed out the ninth to finish the two-hitter. Toronto managed only two hits and placed ace Max Scherzer on the 15-day injured list with right forearm tendinitis and left ankle inflammation. The win gave Boston its first three-game winning streak of the season, a momentum boost for the Red Sox.

The line between top-end Cease and what we saw in the later innings is him getting ahead in counts, which matters even more to him than most pitchers. Each of the last 5 seasons, he's top 10 in whiff rate outside of the zone. Hard to get those bites when you're behind. #BlueJays
