Sabastian Sawe of Kenya became the first person to run a marathon under two hours, winning the London Marathon in 1:59:30. He shattered Kelvin Kiptum's previous world record of 2:00:35 in a world-record-eligible race on the London course. Yomif Kejelcha also ran under two hours, and Tigst Assefa retained her women's crown with a new world record of 2:15:41. The breakthrough resets elite marathon standards and proves sub-two-hour performances are attainable in championship conditions.
