Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Wednesday 22 April that she expects positive decisions on a €90 billion loan package for Ukraine. Kallas told reporters the loan would demonstrate that EU support for Ukraine remains strong and that Russia cannot outlast Ukraine. Spain, Slovenia and Ireland have sent Kallas a letter urging the bloc to debate suspending an Israel pact over alleged human rights violations, and Kallas stressed the need for a Palestinian-led process for regional stability. If approved, the €90 billion package would unlock large-scale EU loan support to Kyiv and signal continued European strategic backing against Russian pressure.
